New Orleans metallers, haarp, will embark on an eight-date journey next month supporting Down. Set to commence on September 21 in Saint Louis, Missouri, the band will bring their sonic wreckage through the Midwest and down the East Coast, coming to a close on September 29 in Sayreville, New Jersey. See confirmed dates below.

haarp will be touring in support of their soon-to-be-unleashed Husks full-length. Set for release on September 18, 2012 through Housecore Records, the follow-up to 2010’s The Filth was recorded at the University of New Orleans Performing Arts Center, Fountainbleau Room 7011, and Nodferatu’s Lair by Philip H. Anselmo, engineered by Steve Berrigan and Nathan Weidenhaft and mastered at Visceral Sounds by Scott Hull.

Said HeavyPlanet in an early review of the three-song beast: “Planting their feet as sludge metal gods, haarp take their time trimming the fat and let the truth simmer. Between the sludge barrages and atmospheric back roads is tempered, expertly-timed black gold. The band’s proficient but patient approach is lined with beautifully rich and vile vision. Husks isn’t merely another NOLA sludge-metal record; it’s a sonic catapult for a band wholly deserving of every accolade they accrue. Take a walk through these rotting woods and sink with your sorrow. When the animals finally smell your stink, haarp will be waiting.” Adds Metal Underground: “This album is very balanced, as its some of the heaviest stuff ever made, but with those tones of airiness and ambience that lift it up just enough…. Quite possibly haarp‘s best album.”

Due to unforeseen events which occurred late in the summer of 2005, members of various disbanded projects came together to forge haarp. Featuring a collective of New Orleans grindcore, punk, and metal scene alumni, haarp embody the murk, decay, and oppression associated with their home city. haarp’s music is a visceral wall of low-end sound; its lyrics a journey through despair, hatred, self loathing, and aggression.haarp will be decimating a city near you. Further details to be announced in the coming days.

About the Author

Paul Ferritto [Fritz]
First off, Fritz isn't my real name. It's a nickname I've had for so long, that I forget sometimes that my real name is Paul. So for all intents and purposes all you fine people can call me Fritz.

Anyway I'm one of the co-founders of Axis Of Metal, which I created out of a love for all things heavy. Admittedly my first foray into music wasn't so heavy. At twelve i developed a love for grunge music, which then lead to a love of classic rock, and punk. Then as I consumed almost every piece of music in said genres I needed something with a bit more intensity, and something more extreme. One day I was walking through the halls in my high school, and i heard music blasting out of someone's headphones, and it was exactly what I was looking for. So after I found out that it was Slayer's "Disciple" I went home that day, and listened to every song Slayer had ever released, and that's how it all started.

So that's my story, so why not go out and listen to me blabber on, on the podcast or go and read what the Axis Of Metal's writing team has to say. Axis of Metal is created by metal heads, for metal heads.
